Teaching and practice during the Mindfulness in the Outback Retreat:

The teachings offered during the Mindfulness in the Outback Retreat are a blend of Western psychology and Eastern and Western spiritual traditions but are of a secular nature. Sabina invites a mindful attention to our inner life, and a compassionate engagement with ourselves and with our world.
For over 30 years Sabina has been on a path of personal and spiritual exploration and growth and has had a meditation practice, particularly in the Insight tradition. She has been a psychotherapist for 16 years bringing an invitation of deep inquiry to her work with clients. Sabina has lived through many of life’s challenges that have been guided and informed by spiritual practice. What is offered comes from many years of practice, study, experience and deep inquiry.

Meditation

During the seven days of the retreat the teaching and guided practices are based on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness-that is: mindfulness of the body, of emotions, thoughts and way of living. In addition, as we are in close contact with the rhythm of the Earth, meditations to deepen awareness and connection of the five elements of nature (earth, water, fire, wood and metal) in context to the land we are within are explored. Guided Practices are weaved through teaching, stories and poetry, engaging the body, the mind and the heart.

If you are a beginner, there is much opportunity to establish a meditation practice in a safe and supported environment. The further we move into the retreat the more space there is for self-guided practise. The Mindfulness in the Outback Retreat includes periods of silence, as well as the safety and support of interpersonal and group sharing.
